WHAT TO EXPECT
What can I expect at St Bede's?
We get that trying anything new can be a scary experience. So…here’s some information that you might find helpful.
Firstly, there’s limited parking on site, but there’s plenty of street parking around College and Church Streets on Sundays. Once you’ve parked and arrived at the building, one of our friendly welcomers will greet you at the door and show you to your seat. Our service starts at 10am with a couple of songs.
In addition to singing, each week we will read a short section of the bible and the preacher will help us discover what God is revealing about himself and how that impacts how we live. This usually goes for around 20 minutes. We usually have time for questions at the end of the address.
Please be assured that you won’t be asked to read anything, sing or say anything unless you feel compelled to do so. We are simply thankful that you have come along.
Our service ends with morning tea and you’d be very welcome to join us.
What do I wear?
Most people dress casually at church, jeans/ t-shirt are just fine.
What about my kids?
For children aged 0-2, we have a family room where parents or carers are free to let their little ones roam. Kids aged 3+ are invited to join the Beedles (kids’ church) which is an aged-specific program full of fun, learning, games and music. Feel free to accompany your child.
We ensure all children’s ministry leaders who work with under 18s are not ‘prohibited persons’, and hold a current “Working with Children Check” clearance. They are also required to undertake Safe Ministry Training or equivalent, and to complete a refresher course every three years.
Will you be asked for money?
We do take an offering at our service, but don’t expect visitors to contribute. Please feel free to pass the bag on to the person next to you.
